What is identity?

What is identity?

Identity is the state or fact of being the same. It refers to the particular features which define individuals, groups, things, eras, places, symbols and styles. Identity can be observed, or it can be constructed, asserted, and shaped by external and internal influences.

Purpose of this unit

At the end of this 2 week unit, you will be able to introduce yourself giving personal information in the target language. 

You will be answering some of this questions in Spanish and by using some objects 

• How can I define identity?
• What forms of communication can be used to express different aspects of identity?
• How can I express my identity through visual arts and in Spanish?
• How is art an expression of identity?

Summative task

You will be assessed on your presentation of your identity through items and/or artwork in a suitcase in Spanish, which you will present via a video of 2 minutes. 

Assessment submission 19th of November 

Students will have the opportunity to take part in a Service activity/project connected with Global Citizenship and the school’s focus this year (Diversity) during the Warmste Week in December to showcase the diverse identities present within the school, and also the diverse ways in which identity can be presented. This is optional.

Backwards planning

1. Goal: submit your video on the Friday 19th of November
2. On Wednesday 17th you need to upload your script for feedback
3. You need to decide what objects you will put in your suitcase, maybe even create some of them
4. You need to practice, record your video and maybe do some editing
5. How many lessons/days do you have to work on this?
