Exam Revision

- Sentence Structure: SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT 

• "Because of him, is the world in danger".
  

- When talking about people, use WHO, not THAT. 

• A boy that's called Harry.

- "One of the..." is always followed by a plural because it refers to 1 item of a group!

• "One of his enemy" / "One of his friend". 

- VERY GREAT: really great, truly great, absolutely great, fantastic, amazing...

• "Very" is used for gradable adjectives (cold). "Really" is used for both gradable and non-grad (great, perfect, dead).

- More linking words!!! Not only "because" or "and": "although", "whereas", "while", "in fact"...

- weather (e.g. rainy, sunny, windy)

- social conditions (e.g. racist society, a selfish family, poverty)

- mood (e.g. calm, optimistic, anxious)

Why is the plot structure important?

Plot structure is not just used in literature, but in all storytelling, television and film.

Once you know plot structure, you can automatically organise something abstract into something that is concrete and makes sense.

What can we say about our characters?

What do they look like?

What are they like?

What relationships do they have with other characters?

 What problems do they have?

Look for someone who is reading the same book as you and sit together (in pairs)!

Writing task

Characters: 

-Write a description of 2 of the characters. Use at least 6 adjectives.

Setting:

- time, place, weather, social conditions, mood.

Plot: 

-Explain 4 things that happened.

• Use richer vocabulary!
• Write full sentences!
