How to use the strategies

• On their own
• Usually in combination with each other
•  Plan with 6 steps

Step 1: Skim whole text

• Read headline/title
• Look at visuals (if they are given)  

Step 2: Read the question

• Highlight/underline any important information
• Find what it is asking 

Step 3: Scan text

• Look for the part where you think you will find the answer (keywords, synonyms etc.) 

Step 4: Read part closely

• Read the part you found during step three closely to find the answer
• Highlight/underline 

Step 5: Formulate your own answer

• Write down in your own words what you think the answer should be 
• Don't look at the options given!

Step 6: Final answer

• Look at the options
• Compare it to your answer from step 5 
• Select the best possible answer
