Form:

1. Form of 'to be': am / are / is

2. verb (werkwoord)

3. + -ing

I am doing the dishes right now.

My parents are watching TV.

Short form: I'm doing / She's listening / We're watching

Present continuous 

Spelling rules:

• Verb ending with -e?  then remove the -e

(to have)     I am having lunch.

(to give)   He is giving us homework.

• Verb of 1 syllable (lettergreep) with a short vowel (a, e, i, o, u) ?, then double the consonant (medeklinker)

(to put)     We are putting sugar in his tea.

(to run)   She is running a marathon.
