Reciprocal pronouns

Reciprocal pronouns worden gebruikt om een wederzijdse relatie uit te drukken. Je vertaalt het met "elkaar". 

Het verwijst naar het onderwerp van de zin.

They are talking to each other.

We will always love one another.

Sarah and Marvin always help each other.

We marry each other

We marry each other

Uitzonderingen

Reflexive pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als wash, dress en shave, tenzij je nadruk wilt leggen op wie het doet. 

(Deze werkwoorden gaan over acties die mensen meestal voor zichzelf doen)

Reciprocal pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als hug, marry en kiss.

(Deze werkwoorden geven al aan dat de handeling van beide kanten komt. 

like and as

je kunt like en as gebruiken om vergelijkingen te maken.

* like gebruik we bij zelfstandig naamwoorden

* as bij bijzinnen en  in combinatie met voorzetsels

'Like' and 'as'(vergelijkingen)

It smells like teen spirit.

She sings like a bird.

your brother looks like you.

It often rains here, as it does in Britain.

We often drink tea, as they do in China.

As in 2014, the band topped the charts.

Je kunt like en as gebruiken om vergelijkingen mee te maken. Je vertaalt deze woorden met 'net als'.

We have got so many animals, our house is (like/as) a zoo!

The advertising agency hired me (like/as) billboard designer.

You will see teeth decay a lot when you work ___ (like/as) a dentist.

Advertisements often have texts such as: "Feel ___ (like/as) a Rockstar!!"
