Explanation about Echinoderms and Arthropods
Slide 1 - Tekstslide
What are we going to learn today?
What the characteristics of echinoderm and arthropods are.
How echinoderm feed themselves.
How arthropods are organized.
How insect can change during their lives.
Slide 2 - Tekstslide
Echinoderms
Echinoderm (stekelhuidigen) are sea animals that got their name because they are ''spiny skinned''. Some of them have large spines, some of them have smaller spines.
Slide 3 - Tekstslide
Echinoderms
Echinoderm have a endoskeleton and can have bilateral, or radial symmetry. They eat clamps by putting their stomachs in their shells. However, some of them are herbivores.

Get to work!
You have 15 minutes to work out the exercises of paragraph 3.6 in your workbook, starting on page 66. You will have to work quietly.
Slide 6 - Tekstslide
Arthropods
Arthropods is the biggest phylum, it has the highest amount of different species (75%). Arthropods are characterized by their hard exoskeleton and their segmented bodies. They have bilateral symmetry.
Slide 7 - Tekstslide
Arthropods
Arthropods are characterized by their hard exoskeleton and their segmented bodies and jointed legs. There are four main arthropod classes: Myriapods, Crustaceans, Arachnids and Insects.
Slide 8 - Tekstslide
Myriapods
Centipedes and millipedes are part of myriapods. They are worm like arthropods that have at least 2 legs per segment. They are herbivores.
Slide 9 - Tekstslide
Crustaceans
Crustaceans are arthropods that live in the sea and have gills. They have at least 8 legs and are omnivores.
Slide 10 - Tekstslide
Arachnids
Arachnids are arthropods that have two main body segments. Some arachnids are predators, thus carnivores, such as spiders and scorpions.
Slide 11 - Tekstslide
Insect
Insects is the biggest class. Insects have three main segments: the abdomen, the thorax and the head. All insects have wings connected to their thorax as well.
Slide 12 - Tekstslide
Metamorphosis
Many insect undergo metamorphosis. This means that their body and lifestyle will change drastically. A life of an animal that undergoes metamorphosis have 4 stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult.
