Reading techniques
  1. Predicting: what do you think is the text about?
  2. Skimming: understanding the main idea and concept. 
  3. Scanning: look for key information (for example: names, dates, numbers)
  4. Intensive reading: read and understand the complete text.

2. Look at the title and headings

  4. Read the first and last paragraph 
  5. Read the first and last line of the other paragraphs

Scanning 

  1. Read the title and subheadings (=tussenkopjes)
  2. When you are looking for specific information
  3. Look for keywords that tell you more about what you are looking for in a text
  4. When you find the information you are looking for, read that part more intensely
  5. Look at bold or underlined words or words in italics.
