Modals: must, have (got) to, should

Je gebruikt should of shouldn't: als je vind dat iets wel/niet zou moeten. Je geeft hierbij ADVIES of wil iets AFRADEN. 

bijvoorbeeld: You should bring some flowers when you meet her parents. 

Je gebruikt must of musn't als je vind dat iets wel/niet MOET. Must is krachtiger dan should. 

bijvoorbeeld:  You musn't buy that game, it's a waste of money. 

Modals: 

Je gebruikt has/have to om zekerheid, noodzaak of verplichting uit te drukken, of om te zeggen dat iets van iemand anders moet.

Bijvoorbeeld:  Mum says I have to do to dishes. 

Of: I have to go now or I'll miss my bus. 

Let op!

Als je have to in de ontkennende zin gebruikt dan veranderd de betekenis van 'moeten' in 'niet hoeven'. Je gebruikt dan: don't of doesn't have to .
