What does the present continuous look like?

You need three steps:

1. am/is/are

2. infinitive (hele ww.)

3. + -ing

Examples:

I am working on Saturday.

She is visiting her cousin that day.

We are seeing a new film next week.

When do we use the present continuous?

We use the present continuous to tell that something is going on or that someone is doing something now.

Exceptions!

Some verbs (werkwoorden) change when we use the present continuous.

My mum is baking a pie. (bake)

We are decorating the room. (decorate)

She is running a marathon. (run)

They are swimming in the pool. (swim)
