What is skimming?

1. A reading strategy
2. reading a text intensely

How do we skim a text?

1. read the title, the introduction, subheadings
2. read the title, and subheadings, and look at images and keywords.
3. read the title , source
4. Look at images, different styles with the text

Skimming, what is it?

A reading strategy that helps us find the main idea of a text- fast!

When do we skim?

- Before we read for details.

- When we have a lot to read but not much time. 

How do we skim?

                                               Only read the important parts!

- Read the title, subtitles and subheadings to find out what the text is about.

- Look at images/ fotos 

- Read the first and last sentence of each paragraph.

- Look out for key words ( sleutel woorden). Don’t read every word or every sentence. 

- Look for words printed in a different style.
