Some and Any

De woorden some en any betekenen 'wat' of ‘enkele’. Je gebruikt het in zinnen als je het over niet-specifieke hoeveelheden of aantallen hebt.  

Je gebruikt some in vragen waarvan je verwacht dat het antwoord 'ja' is en in bevestigende zinnen. 

Can I have some water, please?  

You can have some water. 

Some and Any

In ontkennende zinnen gebruik je any. Voor de meeste vragen gebruik je ook any. 

I don’t have any apples at the moment.  

Do you have any apples?  

There aren’t any cookies left.  

Are there any cookies left? 

Grammar E: meervoud

Plurals = meervoud. 

In het Engels zet je een woord meestal in het meervoud door een ‘s’ aan het woord toe te voegen. 

room – rooms  

grape – grapes  

glass – glasses

Plurals

Sommige woorden hebben een andere spelling in het meervoud.  

Eindigt een woord op een medeklinker + y, dan verandert de -y in -ies. 

one baby – two babies  

one party – two parties

Eindigt een woord op een medeklinker + o, dan wordt -es toegevoegd.  

one tomato – two tomatoes  

one potato – two potatoes

Meervouden

Eindigt het woord op -fe (zoals knife) dan krijgt het meervoud -ves. 1 knife wordt 2 knives. 

uitzonderingen: 

1 child = 2 children (1 kind = 2 kinderen) 

1 tooth = 2 teeth (1 tand = 2 tanden) 

1 foot = 2 feet (1 voet = 2 voeten) 

Future tense: 

Als je over plannen in de toekomst praat gebruik je de future tijd. 

Deze maak je door: am/are/is + going to + werkwoord. 

I am going to go to the soccer game this weekend. 

Demonstrative pronouns

Demonstrative pronouns = aanwijzende voornaamwoorden. 

Aanwijzende voornaamwoorden in het Nederlands zijn: 

- die 

- dat

- deze 

Je gebruikt ze als je iets aanwijst. bijvoorbeeld: 

- Die tafel daar. 

- Deze schoenen die ik draag. 

In het Engels heb je ook aanwijzende voornaamwoorden. 

 

Enkelvoud: This, That 

Meervoud: These, Those 

This en these gebruik je voor voorwerp(en) die dichtbij staan. 

- This book that I am reading (enkelvoud)

- These pens in my pencil case. (meervoud)

That en those gebruik je voor voorwerp(en) die veraf staan. 

- That dog across the street. (enkelvoud) 

- Those cars parked over there (meervoud).
