Doel

Aan het eind van de les kun je simple, compound & complex sentences van elkaar onderscheiden.

Simple

Simple sentences bevatten 1 onderwerp en 1 werkwoord (dat met de tijd mee veranderd).

I work in a supermarket every day.

He loves his car.

Compound

Een compound sentence is twee simple sentences aan elkaar met woorden zoals and, or, but, so

He works at a supermarket and he works at a carwash.

They like dogs, but they are allergic to them.

Our school day ended at noon, so we went to the shopping centre.

Complex

Als je aan een simple sentence een bijzin toevoegd met een linking word zoals because, although, after, when, before, which, that, who, whose dan krijg je een complex sentence.

He left his house at 8 because his shift starts at 9.

We need to go shopping before we go on holiday.

She liked to sing when she was younger.
