This photo is taken just a year after the Frank family moved to the Netherlands, Anne and Margo went to school and quickly learned Dutch, making it easier to make friends. They made both Dutch and German friends.
This is Gabrielle Kahn, one of Anne and Margo's good friends, this phot is taken at the home of the Kahn family in Amsterdam (1934).
At the time the Frank family lived at Merwedeplein, a few minutes away from this location, a neighborhood in Amsterdam which was a diverse area with a mix of immigrants and a developed Jewish community.

The idea of   identity is complex, we each have many different  layers that make up our own ideas of who we are, whether we were born with them or have chosen them ourselves.

But one thing's for sure, we should never exclude or   discriminate against someone based on  aspects of their identity!
