Werkwoord + ing

• Een werkwoord (verb) kan soms worden gebruikt als zelfstandig naamwoord (noun).
• Werkwoord + ing (aka gerund in english) is een vorm van het werkwoord die gebruikt wordt als zelfstandig naamwoord.

Bijvoorbeeld:

I hate doing homework. 

Doing homework is fun!

Gebruik?

• Werkwoord + ing:

Na werkwoorden die aangeven wat je wel of niet leuk vindt: love, like en hate.

Bijvoorbeeld: I love reading books.

Het lijkt veel op de continuous tense. Maar is het niet.  I am reading a book.

• To + hele werkwoord:

na werkwoorden: promise, want, decide, plan, hope, ask, refuse, expect.

Bijvoorbeeld:  I want to volunteer at the community centre.

                              We refuse to go out tonight.

Gebruik:

thing : bij dingen	I have found some thing to write on.	You can ask me any thing about my job.
body : bij mensen	I think every body here is really nice	We need to ask some body for help.
where: bij locaties.	He went some where to get food.	We can go any where we want.
