Introduction
-first part of a text. 
-function: to introduce the topic of the text and to capture the attention of the readers.

Body
- main part of the text. 
- any number of paragraphs. 
-function: to present the various points of information, ideas or arguments the writer wants to get across.

Conclusion
-last part of the text.
 - function: summarise the main part of the text.
It can also be an opinion, a recommendation, a prediction, a comment, a call for action or a piece of advice

Nuttig voor vragen over bedoelingen van de schrijver / tekst.

Five important text structures that writers use to organise information, ideas and arguments in their texts. 

  • Sequence and chronology:  meanwhile, finally, earlier
  • Comparison and contrast: too, equally, just like , on the other hand ,although .
  • Cause and effect: since , consequently, because of 
  • Problem and solution: difficulty , solution, answer
  • Description: for example, as well as, in addition

Grammar: vergelijkingen (I)
Deze auto is kleiner dan die auto. > This car is smaller than that car.  (small)
Jim is jonger dan Kim. > Jim is younger than Kim. (young)

Deze auto is de kleinste in de straat. > This car is the smallest in the street. (small)
Kim is de jongste van de klas. > Kim is the youngest of the class. (young)

* Soms medeklinker dubbelen: big > bigger > biggest 
* Woorden eindigend op -e alleen 'r' of 'st' toevoegen : nice > nicer > nicest
* Woorden eindigende op -y veranderen in 'ie' : funny > funnier > funniest

Vergelijkingen met "lange" bijvoeglijke naamwoorden (> 3 lettergrepen)

beautiful > more beautiful > most beautiful

Jack's auto is mooi. > Jack's car is beautiful. 
Peter's auto is mooier.> Peter's car is more beautiful. 
Rosie's auto is het mooiste.> Rosie's car is the most beautiful.

Sommige woorden hebben eigen vorm:

bad > worse > worst
