Today, we're going to practise part 1 of the C1 Advanced exam: Multiple Choice Cloze

1. Just listen to me reading the text out loud.
2. Listen again and fill in one word in column 1.
3. Listen one final time, look at the multiple choice answers and circle the correct answer in column 2.

Count your points:

Every correct answer in column 1 is worth 3 points.

Every correct answer in column 2 is worth 1 point.

Who's got the highest score?

General feedback essay #1

- Title

- 4 paragraphs

- Linking words to emphasize structure (+ commas)

- Don't forget to answer the question in the concluding paragaph!

- Mind the word limit: 220 - 260 words

Practice essay #2

- Writing practice:

go to the 4 sample assignments on the Magister SW and pick a new writing assignment

- Focus on language and the use of the passives/ conditionals

Focus on language

- Formal language

- No contracted forms: don't -> do not

- No 'but', 'and' or 'because' at the start of a sentence.

- Remember those linking words

- Focus on using 2 passives and 2 conditionals in your essay and underline them.

Writing practice

- Finish your essay in class

- Exchange your essay with your neighbour/ a classmate if there's time

- Make some final changes

- Hand in your work via Magister Berichten (optional this time)

Tuesday

- Bring your novel to class

- Don't forget to hand in your 2nd essay if you'd like some feedback

- CE 2022-II: Make sure you've finished texts 6 and 7

- Study wordlist p. 40 and 41
