Setting of a story
The setting of a story is the place and time a story takes place in.
It can be real or imaginary.

We will discuss three types of setting

1.  Physical setting - The location where the story takes place
2. Hystorical setting - The period (or time) in which the story takes place 
3. Social setting - The culture or society in the story

Physical setting
Setting in literature gives context to the story. It supports the characters, plot and theme in the story. It easily provides intricate information for the reader.

Historical setting
Time or historic moments give a lot of information about the surroundings or the situation the characters are in. They have a direct effect on the way they behave.

Social/cultural setting
A society  has rules and affects the behaviour of characters. 
Cultures within a story influence the norms and values of certain characters in stories.

Theme in literature
Theme is the main idea in a story. It can be the moral of the story but is does not have to be. 

Theme is always expressed by a complete sentence, idea or thought. It is never just one word.

Important about theme
- Theme is ALWAYS expressed in a sentence, idea or thought. If you write down a single word, it's not theme. 
- A story can have more than one theme. It can also have no theme. 
- If you come up with an answer, you have to provide context and explanation for you answer with information from the story
