 if + past simple  + would + verb

If I won a lot of money, I would buy a big house in the country.

if + past simple, ...would + infinitive (base form)

• We use the second conditional to describe an imaginary situation or event, and its result.
  
•     For example:
  
• If I won the lottery, I would buy a big house.
  
• (I probably won't win the lottery)
  
• I would give him my number if he asked me.
  
• (He might not ask me)
