Translating sentences with transition words

In contrast to people who play basketball, who are generally quite tall, gymnasts and jockeys are very typically short.

Contrary to popular belief, I think I may be able to convince you that the old fashioned bog or water closet as you posh people call it, may just be the best invention ever!  Despite initial claims of horror and disgust, as so many of you have chosen the mobile phone as the best invention, I will prove how simple it is to come out the champion. For instance, when you make use of my facilities, you tend to be using your mobile phone to entertain yourself. Although your precious mobile phone is portable and I am not, you always come to me, I never come to you. I almost always win the survival battle when you drop your phone in me, even though some providers have learnt their lesson and made your phones waterproof now. I am always there through thick and thin, such as that time you ate that dodgy burrito. You don't have to charge me in contrast to your telephones. Similar to your phones, I only have one or two buttons but my buttons don't need an instruction manual to operate them. I never have to have software updates, unless for example you want to renovate. In short, have I told you enough to convince you that I am the best invention ever?

Write a compare and contrast paragraph

What: You will write one paragraph of about 75 - 100 words (in English) that either compares or contrasts the differences/similarities between your innovation with that of a partners.  Your paragraph uses at least 3 comparative or 3 contrasting and 1 conclusion transition words.

How: You will get a print of someone else's "best innovation ever" poster.  Find your own poster and compare and contrast the differences and similarities.  List at least 3 differences of similarities.  Include an introduction and conclusion sentence. Underline/Highlight your transition words.  Work digitally (word document)

Why: It is good for your writing practice and is good practice for the test.

Time:  You have 12  minutes to complete this task.  Help:  Transition words list, dictionary

Finished:  Look at the rubric in Teams under assignments. Evaluate your own writing
