•  Two brothers raised by a wolf.
• Romules kills Remus and builds Rome.
• Romules is the first of 7 Roman kings.

Early Rome

•  Built on seven hills nex to the river Tiber.
• Rule by king= monarchy
• King was advised a group of nobles= senate

•  Last 3 kings were bad Etruscan tyrants.
• The last king was exiled.
• The name of the last king= Tarquinius Superbus

Etruscan= People living to the north of Rome

• Republic= country without a king.
• Now 2 consuls ruled= rulers for 1 year.
• During war 1 consul would become dictator for 6 months. =legal ruler with all the power.
