Slide 1 - Tekstslide

11:50-12:40

Eigen leerdoel voorbereiding: Maak doelen die over meer gaan dan alleen kennis en kijk bij tenminste 2 onderdelen waarom je het (zo) doet.

Eigen leerdoel tijdens de les: zorg ervoor dat de ja/nee vragen opdracht georganiseerd verloopt, door te corrigeren op leerlingen die voor hun beurt spreken en door zelf aan te geven welke leerling er nu een vraag mag stellen.
Goals
At the end of the lesson I:
- can work together to figure out what thing the teacher is talking about, using yes or no questions and vocab from previous chapters
- know the description of 12 words.
- can use my listening skills to put information in the correct order.

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Happy birthday... to me :)
Ask me yes or no questions to find out what
I have/will get/got for my birthday.
Total of 3 guesses so ask first, then guess!
Think about:
size, category (food/tech/accessories/etc.),
material, shape, where/when I'd use it, etc. here right now?
We will go 1 by 1. Listen to each other to figure it out.

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Until 12:07 max
The item is: a new ring
Students have to work together and ask yes or no questions one by one to figure out the present I'm getting from my parents. They have to listen to each other as not to ask the same questions and listen to my answers to deduce what the item could be. They only get 3 guesses, so they shouldn't waste those right at the start. Students may not shout through the class and have to wait their turn, also teaching them to have some patience (hopefully).

Many of these words (shapes, material, category, etc) they've had this year already.
We do this to: repeat the vocabulary from previous chapters;
practice with asking (yes or no) questions;
improve listening/communication skills and ability to work together.

10 minutes max.

Vocabulary
What: In groups of 4 (made by me), put the right word with the correct description.
How: work together. Make sure everyone is participating (12/4 = 3). Your books stay closed.
Time: 4 minutes
Done: double check together if everything is correct.
Outcome: we will check your answers.

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

until 12:12
Note to self: might chance this to just pairs instead of groups of 4.
Students have to work together and combine the pieces of paper with descriptions to the pieces of paper with their word. Tell them to work as a group, so everyone does 3 descriptions. Students may work together but not shout and they have 4 minutes (max) to complete the table of words and descriptions.

I anticipate that they already know most of these words because of previous chapters and the VIU lessons, so the challenge is in the description more than the words.
We do this to: make sure everyone is matching descriptions to their corresponding words as opposed to only a few people.
to have them work together and possibly debate over why a word goes with a description and not another description.
improve communication skills and ability to work together.

When everyone is done, I will show the correct answers on the board (next slide)
