Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Title Slide:

Instructor Script: Welcome to The K-Piano STEAM Lab. I’m your K-Piano Online Instructor <Your Name>. I’m excited to be your teacher here at <School Name>. Ok Let’s get started.

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Set-Up Slide:

Instructor Script:
In the K-Piano STEAM Lab the technology is an important part of the learning experience. It keeps me, The Online K-Piano Coach connected to your class, and it keeps your class connected to me. Let me tell you a little bit about me, and show you how my set-up connects with your class.

Engagement:
Connect with the students by telling them something about you.

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Teacher Set-Up Slide:

Instructor Script:
Now let’s look at my set-up. I have 2 Laptop devices here where I can see what I am presenting on your screen. I can also see and hear you. If you need help or have a question, the best way to get it to my attention is via the chat. Now let’s look at your set-up.

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

Student Set-Up Slide:
GOAL: HELP STUDENTS GET LOGGED IN. IF THEIR LOGGED IN GIVE ORIENTATION OF EQUIPMENT.

Instructor Script:
Now let’s look at your set-up and get everybody logged in. You have a Bench or a seat, your keyboard is sitting on a stand or a table, and you have a laptop that you need to connect to the learning platform, <either Zoom/Google Classroom>. The first thing I want you to do is make sure that your keyboard is turned on and that the headphones are connected.

>>>Question 1: Indicate with a thumbs up if you are able to hear your keyboard through the headset? If you can’t be sure that your keyboard is turned on, and that the headphones are plugged into the correct jack on the back of the keyboard.

>>>Question 2: Please indicate with a up if you have an Aux Cord already connected to the keyboard?

The purpose of this aux cord is to bring the audio sound from your laptop into the keyboard, and out of the headphones. Everyone please take a moment and connect the aux cord into the headphone jack of your smart device.

Please indicate with a thumbs up if you can hear your keyboard in the headphones and you have the aux cord connecting your laptop to the keyboard.
Now let’s get everyone logged in to the Zoom/Google Classroom.

(Note to Instructor) This process will vary at different schools. Work with the in-class teachers to get all students logged in. It is likely that the teachers will have already provided a link to the students.

>>>Question 3: Please indicate with a thumbs up if you can hear me in your headphones?

Troubleshoot Script: If you cant hear me in your headphones, make sure you have connected up your audio on zoom, make sure the volume is turned up on your laptop, make sure that the aux cord is pushed all the way in on the computer and the keyboard, then make sure the keyboard is turned on. If you’re still having an issue please raise your hands an either a teacher or a classmate can assist you.

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

Now that we’re connected we can see and hear each other using the technology. You’re in <Their City, State> and I am here in <Your Location> but it’s like we’re all in the same room. Now Let’s get Started!!!

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Here’s what you can expect when you come to The K-Piano STEAM Lab.

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

You’re going to learn how to READ MUSIC & how to PLAY the PIANO. There are a lot of reasons why you should take this seriously. Playing an instrument will make you smarter, it will improve how quickly you figure things out, it will make you feel good, it will relax you, it will help you focus. But most importantly……

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Students who PLAY PIANO do better in Math, Reading, and in all subjects. I am going to help you all learn to play, and you all are going to help me win K-Piano Teacher of the year.

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

Here’s how it works. When you’re in K-Piano you are working to earn K-Tags. You earn these K-Tags by learning how to read and play music, showing us you know how to work the technology on your 1:1 Device, and finally demonstrating your ability to Learn & Practice Independently. There are 9 K-Tag Levels starting with The White K-Tag, and ending with the Black K-Tag. I want this class to view yourselves as a team, and to view me & your in-class teacher <In-Class Teacher Name> as your coaches. It's our job to train you to earn your K-Tags. The better you perform the more points your class gets, and the more points I receive as your K-Piano Teacher. Let’s get started on our first Mission Together.

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

Our first Mission is make sure everyone on our team earns their White K-Tag By <Milestone Date>.
>>>QUESTION 1: Who here is confident they will earn their White K-Tag by <Milestone Date>?
>>>QUESTION 2: Who here is confident that you will focus, be one of the first to earn your White K-Tag, and that you will serve as a Section Leader and help your team mates to complete the first mission of earning their White K-Tags.

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

Teacher Script:
Now you’re going to hear the song, Superfly Warm-Up. This is the song you will play on your piano to earn your White K-Tag. I also want to introduce you to Mr. Kenny (The Founder of K-Piano). He’s going to introduce the song to you.

>>>Question 3: Now that you’ve heard the song you’re going to play how do you feel?

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

OK Team! There are 10 Goals we will need to complete in order to accomplish the Mission of earning your White K-Tag. Today we’re going to do the Tech Set-Up together. However, once we get rolling we have links that our High Flyer Students can use to get ahead. For example if the class is on Goal 03 “Finding C” and you’re focused I’ll provide you with the links for you to start working on Goal 04 or whatever is next for you.

Slide 13 - Tekstslide

Let’s go over the 3 rules for The K-Piano STEAM Lab.

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

Rule #1: Follow directions the first time. This will help us save time by not having to repeat things.

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

Rule #2: On Cam on Task! You are expected to have your camera on for the entire class. The Camera will be used to see your face, and also so that I can see your hands when you’re playing the keyboard.

Slide 16 - Tekstslide

Rule #3 Do Your Best. It’s simple. Do your best and strive to be the best. We’ll give you the opportunity to get ahead It’s your job to focus, do your best, and show us all that you’re a High Performer.

Slide 17 - Tekstslide

Review the rules with the students.  Have them repeat them on beat together.

Slide 18 - Tekstslide

Let’s remember that Rule #2 is On Cam, On task. We are always on camera. There are three camera positions that you need to know. Let’s look now at the 3 On Cam Positions

Slide 19 - Tekstslide

“Face on Cam”: In this position we want your face to be in the middle of the screen. Face on Came allows you to see the information I am presenting on the screen, and allows me to see your face.
>>>>Engagement have the students go to Face on Cam.

Slide 20 - Tekstslide

Hands on Cam: In this position we want your hands to be in the air and on camera so that we can correct your hand posture.
>>>>Engagement have the students go to Hands on Cam.

Slide 21 - Tekstslide

Keys on Cam: This is an important position because this is the position we use that allows me to see your keyboard. When we say Keys On cam please use one hand to hold the bottom of the computer to make sure you don’t knock over the equipment. So with 1 hand holding the bottom of your device bring the Camera down to show the keyboard.
>>>>Engagement have the students go to Keys on Cam, then correct the positioning to make sure they get the right angles.

Slide 22 - Tekstslide

Review On Cam Learning Positions.
>>>Cam Position Game: Call out the 3 positions and let the students respond.
