A common mistake......
People mix up afternoon tea and high tea because both have tea and snacks, but they are very different!

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Afternoon Tea ☕🍰
  • A fancy snack time around 3–5 PM
  • Rich people in the past had it while relaxing
  • Includes tiny sandwiches, scones with jam, and little cakes
  • Served on low tables (like coffee tables)

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

High Tea 🍽️☕
  • A big meal around 5–7 PM
  • Working people ate it after a long day
  • Includes hot food like pies, meat, cheese, and bread
  • Served on high tables (like dinner tables)

High Tea 🍽️☕

'High' because it was eaten at the table.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Why Do People Get Confused?
  1. "High" sounds fancy, but it actually means "dinner table."
  2. Restaurants (and Werenfridus) call "afternoon tea" "high tea" by mistake to sound fancy!!
  3. Both have tea, so people think they are the same.

So, afternoon tea is a fun snack and high tea is a big dinner! 🍵🍰🍽️
