Je gebruik de present continous om te zeggen : 

• dat iets nu aan de gang is  (of)
• dat iemand nu iets  aan het doen is

I am doing the dishes. 

• persoonvorm  = I
•  werkwoord 'to be' = am
• infinitive + ing = doing
• object = the dishes

Let op: Spelling

• soms verandert de spelling als je - ing toevoegt.

bij een werkwoord dat eindigt op -e, 

zoals bake, valt die -e weg

bake = baking

• bij werkwoorden van een lettergreep met een korte klinker zoals stop, sit, run en chat

wordt de medeklinker verdubbeld om de klank te behouden

> stopping , sitting, running, chatting

Wanneer gebruik je de Past continuous?

• bij handelingen en gebeurtenissen die op een bepaald moment in het verleden aan de gang waren
• of situaties van tijdelijke aard in het verleden

Past Continuous

In welke zin wordt de Past Continuous gebruikt?

1. They film the event with a hidden camera.
2. They filmed the event with a hidden camera.
3. They are filming the event with a hidden camera.
4. They were filming the event with a hidden camera.

In welke zin wordt de Past Continuous gebruikt?

1. I was waiting for the bus.
2. I has waited for the bus?
3. I am waiting for the bus.
4. Ik weet het niet;(

Wat is de regel vorm van de past continuous?

1. hele ww+ - ed of irregular verb
2. was/were+ hele ww+ -ing
3. vorm van to be + hele ww+ -ing
4. have/has + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje)

Wanneer gebruik je de Past Continuous?

1. Wanneer iets altijd, nooit of regelmatig gebeurt.
2. Wanneer iets in het verleden een tijdje aan de gang was.
3. Wanneer iets in het verleden is gebeurd.
4. Wanneer iets in het verleden is begonnen en nu nog bezig is.
