The North Pole is the far north, the South Pole is the far south.

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

The location of Tehran in the world
LATITUDE
You can devide the two hemispheres into degrees of latitude.
Equator: 0º

North of the equator is northern latitude (N)
South of the equator is southern latitude (S)
West of the prime meridian is western longitude (W)
East of the prime meridian is eastern longitude (E)

LOOK AT FIGURE 16
  1. Where is Rio de Janeiro compared to the prime meridian and the equator?
  2. Where is Cape Town compared to the prime meridian and the equator?
  3. Where is Voorburg compared to the prime meridian and the equator?
