At the end of the lesson, the student:

- Knows how to do the active/passive shuffle.

- has worked on their reading skills.

Active v.s. passive voice

Zinnen kunnen passief of actief zijn. 

Bij actieve zinnen ligt de nadruk op WIE iets doet.

Bij passieve zinnen ligt de nadruk op de actie/handeling zelf.

Select the active sentence:

1. I painted the front door
2. The front door was painted by me.

Select the passive sentence:

1. She was the one who destroyed it.
2. It was destroyed by her.

The active voice

Nadruk op wie

The dog ate his kibble.

bij verandering wordt het object in de zin het onderwerp!

(en vice versa)

The passive voice

Nadruk op de actie

The kibble was eaten by the dog.

het stuk: "by the" en alles wat daar volgt is optioneel.

Change the sentence to active/passive

The FBI are arresting naughty children.

active/passive--->

Thieves robbed the bank during the day.
