Vocabulary
Vocabulary is essential to understanding what you read. Learning new words is the key to improving reading comprehension.

The Five W's
Who, what, when, where, and why are the five W's to help you understand what you read. They help you understand the main idea and important details.

Visualizing is creating a mental picture of what you read. It helps you understand the text and remember the details.

Skimming, scanning, and close reading are reading strategies. Skimming is reading quickly to get the main idea. Scanning is looking for specific information. Close reading is reading carefully and analyzing the text.

Practice
