Describing ability: I can speak Spanish. She could read and write before she was three. 

Making a request: Can you help me? Could you say that again?

• Things that are happening now
• am / is / are + werkwoord ending in -ING

Watch out for this

I  teach English                                                      I get up at 6 O'clock

He / she / it teaches English                           He gets up at 6 O'clock

Drive ends in - e, but : I am driving - the -E disappears

Grammar: must, need to, should, have to

• We use should / shouldn't to give advice or make a suggestion - You should save money to buy a house
• We use have to or need to to say that something very important or necessary - I need to sell my car quickly
• We use don't have to or don't need to if something is not necessary - you don't have to come to school
• must is very similar to have to - you must appear confident  
• musn't is to say that somebody is not allowed to do something - You musn't have a party during lockdown
