Much of many?

Much en many betekenen allebei ‘veel’.

• Bij dingen die je kunt tellen, gebruik je many.
• Bij dingen die je niet kunt tellen, zoals vloeistoffen, geld etc. gebruik je much:

For example: I haven't got many shoes.

                            There is much money in his bag.

A lot of / lots of

In plaats van much / many wordt ook a lot of / lots of gebruikt. Maar dan wel in bevestigende zinnen, dus niet in vragen of ontkenningen:

• There are lots of/ a lot of sweets in the bowl. 
• A lot of/ lots of people came to the concert.

En ook:

Na woorden als so, too en how moet je, ook in bevestigende zinnen, much / many gebruiken:

I know how much work you have done.

There are only so many hours in a day.

(a) little, (a) few 

• (A) little en (a) few gebruik je om te zeggen dat er WEINIG van iets is. 

• (a) little -> zelfstandige naamwoorden die je NIET kunt tellen. 
• little room, a little more information

• (a) few -> bij woorden die je WEL kunt tellen. 
• few boys, a few options

There is LITTLE water in the desert.

Thankfully he still had A LITTLE water in the desert.
