Scanning

Scanning involves quickly looking through a text to find specific information, such as dates, names, or answers to a particular question.

How to do it:

Focus only on keywords or numbers.

Ignore unnecessary details.

Skimming

Skimming means reading a text quickly to get the main idea of the content without focussing on the details

Example: Skimming the headlines of a newspaper or the summary of a book.

How to do it:

Read the title, headings, and subheadings.

Focus on the first and last sentences of paragraphs.

In-Depth reading

Definition: In-depth reading is a detailed and thorough reading of a text to fully understand its content and meaning. 

How to do it:

Read every sentence carefully.

Take notes and highlight key information.
