Goal: To understand how you can compare things in English and to use this grammar correctly.

What can you remember about relative pronouns?

Relative pronouns

Relative pronouns verwijzen naar:

Who                Persoon

Which              Dier, ding

That*               ipv who/which; zonder komma

Whose             Persoon, ding, dier; bezit

Whom              ipv who, direct na voorzetsel

* Na een komma gebruik je nooit "that"!

Used for things and animals

Shows possession (bezit)

Woorden van 1 lettergreep:

- Comparative: -er

- Superlative: -est

Woorden van 2 lettergrepen

Woorden van 2 lettergrepen die eindigen op le/er/ow/y  krijgen ook

 +er  / + est

Yellow - yellower than - the yellowest

Gentle - gentler than - the gentlest

Let op! Woorden die eindigen op een medeklinker + y krijgen IER/IEST

Happy - happier than - the happiest

Woorden van 2 lettergrepen of meer:

- Comparative: more.....than

- Superlative: the most.....

Een aantal woorden van 2 lettergrepen mogen alleen met more en most

bijvoorbeeld:

famous - more famous than - the most famous

boring - more boring than - the most boring

careful - more careful than - the most careful

Hi! My name’s Jeremy, __________ is also my father’s name! 

I’m a student at Portsmouth University , __________ is right in the centre of the city. I live in a big student apartment block with around 200 students. I was sorting out the shelves in my room __________ have all my books on them and I found a book which belonged to another student __________ studies with me.
