When do we use the Present Perfect and when the Past Simple?

Past simple

Present Perfect

Vroeger gebeurd en nu afgelopen. 

In het verlden begonnen en nog relevant voor het heden (hier en nu)

Iets is vroeger gebeurd maar het is niet relevant of niet belangrijk wanneer precies. 

Als iets zojuist (korte tijd geleden) is gebeurd

(+) bevestigende zinnen

(-) ontkennende zinnen

(?) vragende zinnen

Past simple

Present Perfect

(+) hele ww + -ed

(-) did not + hele ww

(?) did + hele ww

(+) have/has + voltooid deelwoord

(-) haven't/hasn't + voltooid deelwoord

Past Simple
