When do we use the gerund?
- After prepositions (voorzetsels) 
of, in, on, without, by, after, etc. 

Examples: 
He apologized for arriving late to the meeting.
They succeeded in overcoming numerous challenges.
The car company focuses on reducing its carbon footprint

When do we use the gerund?
- If the verb is (part of) the subject in the sentence.


Examples: 
/ Winning the World Cup / was the best thing that happened to them. 
/ Raising enough money / for charity is our main goal for today.

love, like, hate, start, stop, keep on 


Examples: 
You should keep on dancing, even if he ditches you for someone else.
