Present continuous: uitzonderingen

I am lying to you. --> hele ww: lie

--> eindigt een ww op -ie, vervang het voor -y

She is baking a cake. --> hele ww: bake

--> eindigt een ww op een -e

Present Continuous

Je hebt twee soorten tegenwoordige tijd in het Engels:

• De present simple  (bij regelmatige gebeurtenissen, feiten en gewoontes)
• De present continuous (om te zeggen dat iets nu gebeurt)

Hoe maak je de present continuous?

Juiste vorm van to be (am/ are/ is) + hele werkwoord + ing

Voorbeeldzinnen:

I am reading the explanation right now. 

We are walking home.

Uitzonderingen:

Als het ww eindigt op:

...ie, dan maak je er y van. 

Bijv.: lie = are lying

...e, dan haal je de e weg. 

Bijv.: bake = are baking

Present continuous: vraagzinnen

I am baking a cake. 

Am I baking a cake?

She is telling a story.

Is she telling a story?

Zet de vorm van 'to be' vooraan de zin om een vraagzin te maken. 

Present continuous: ontkenning

I am baking a cake. 

I am not baking a cake. 

She is telling a story.

She is not telling a story.

Zet 'not' achter de vorm van 'to be' om een ontkennende zin te maken.
