Past Simple: keywords

In Dutch keywords are called 

'signaalwoorden'  

These words help you to see if something happened in the past:

• yesterday
• last week
• ten minutes ago
• in 2007
• etc.

HOME Assignment

Create a story ( 200 words), use 7 pictures with the signal words. You need to include:

•  3 x Past Simple  
•  2 x Present Perfect
•  2 x Present Perfect  Continuous

Tenses review - past continuous

Past Continuous (was/were + verb + ing) - 

• to emphasize duration (2 actions going on for a longer time; 1 longer action when a shorter action - Past Simple - interrupted);
• to signal irritation
•  to indicate smth. was already  going on when smth. else interrupted;

Present Perfect - signal words

There are often clues or signal words  such as:
