London

London was founded (opgericht) next to the River Thames by the Romans nearly 2000 years ago. It has many famous historical buildings and monuments including Buckingham Palace, St Pauls Cathedral and the Monument to the Great Fire of London. Edinburgh is made up of an Old Town and a New Town. Its oldest castle is Edinburgh Castle which sits in the centre of the city, on top of a rock, a 700-million-year-old extinct volcano. The most famous street in Edinburg is The Royal Mile, although it’s actually longer than a mile.

Belfast

Belfast was founded as a town in 1613 by Sir Arthur Chichester. It became a city in 1888. The whole of Ireland became part of the United Kingdom in 1801. The southern part became its own country in 1920. Belfast was then made the capital city of Northern Ireland. Belfast castle sits on a hill that has beautiful views of the city.
