Why would you use the "past simple" tense?

ADJECTIVE (bijvoeglijk nw)

Een bijvoeglijk naamwoord zegt iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord.

Beyoncé is a                sexy                lady.

ADJECTIVE (bijvoeglijk nw)

Een bijvoeglijk naamwoord gebruik je ook na de volgende werkwoorden: 

to be, to become, to seem  (koppel ww) 

to feel , to smell , to sound , to taste, to look  (zintuigen)

Het ruikt vreselijk. - It smells terrible.

ADVERB (bijwoord)

1. Een bijwoord zegt iets over een werkwoord.

He         talked         nervously.

      She                     laughs                 loudly.

2. He has a remarkably loud voice

3. She laughs very loudly

 2. Zegt iets over een bijvoeglijk naamwoord 

3. Zegt iets over een ander bijwoord. 

ADVERB = ADJECTIVE + LY

adjective:    the beautiful girl

adverb:         she sings beautifully

    adjective:  ends with -ic (fantastic)

    adverb:       +ally (fantastically)

adjective: ends with -ly : He is a friendly person.

    adverb: He treated me in a friendly way/ manner.

LET OP:

    good       -        well

He is a good singer.      He sings well.

LET OP:

     a fast car                              He drives fast. (fastly bestaat niet)

Ann is a hard worker.           Ann works hard.  (hardly = nauwelijks)

The train was late.                He woke up late this morning.

                                                       (lately = de laatste tijd)

This was a fair decision.      You must play fair.  (fairly = tamelijk)
