Present Simple

Present Simple

• Habits (gewoontes)
  - He always drives too fast.
• Facts (feiten)
  - Fire is hot.
• Time tables (tijdsschema/ rooster)
  - The bus leaves at 8 o'clock.
  
  

Present Continuous

Present Continuous

• Something that is happening right now.
  - The sun is shining at the moment.
• A plan in the near future with location or time.
  - We are going to school tomorrow.

Determiners

Much, many, lots of, a lot of, (a) little,  (a) few

Much, many, lots of and a lot of

• We use much, many, lots of and a lot of when there is a lot of something
• A few examples:

1. I've made a lot of mistakes.
2. How many pets do you own?

Countable and non-countable

• Much and Many are used to express that there is a large quantity of something. 
• Many is used with countable nouns.
• Much is used with uncountable nouns.
• A few examples:

1. I don't have many CDs in my collection. 
2. They don't have much money to buy a present.

Lots of and A lot of

• A lot of and lots of are used to express that there is a large quantity of something.
  
• We use a lot of in positive sentences, negative sentences and questions.
• A few examples:

1. There are a lot of dogs in the street.
2. I have lots of questions.

(A) Few and (A) little

• We use a few and a little to suggest a small quantity or not much of something.
  
• A few is used with countable nouns.
• A little is used with uncountable nouns.
• A few examples:

1. I have a few crazy friends.
2. There is little hope of finding your wallet.
