1. if/when + present simple >> present simple.
2. if/when + present simple >> will + infinitive.
3. if + past simple >> + would + infinitive.
4. if + future simple >> + would + infinitive.

Read the sentences

Andrew is such a boring person because he works all the time.

independent/ main clause - dependent/ If clause          

If Andrew didn't work all the time, he wouldn't be such a boring person.

Andrew wouldn't be such a boring person if he did not work all the time.

Rewrite the sentence using the second conditional:

I can't take a photo because I don't have your phone.
*The conditional sentence is affirmative*

Rewrite the sentence using the second conditional:

If I ____ (have) a dictionary, I __ (can) look the word up.

Rewrite the sentence using the second conditional:

If I ____ (be/not) so busy, I __ (call) my friends.

When if is followed by the verb be, it is grammatically correct to say if I were, if he were, if she were and if it were. However, it is also common to hear these structures with was, especially in the he/she form.
