Ss learn the past simple of be. The context is a listening where Ss listen to part of a podcast about the 2010s. They practise the strong and weak forms of was and were. They also learn vocabulary related to time phrases and dates. Ss then do a speaking activity where they talk about their recent activity in small groups.
