Past Perfect
  • Something had happened.. 
  • ...before something else

Examples:
  • Confirmation:  My sister had lived in Canada before she moved to the USA.
  • Negation / question

What does it look like?
had + past participle (-ed or irregular verbs)

Present Perfect Continuous
  • Something happened in the past..
  • ....but it's not important when exactly...
  • ... and it has been going on for a while, happens
    again & again or it annoys you how long it takes

Examples:
I have been practising coffee art (for about three years now).
Can you please stop? You have been doing that every day this week.

What does it look like?
  • has/have + been + present participle (stem + -ing)

Examples:
  • I have been practising coffee art for about three years now.
  • Can you please stop? You have been doing that every day this week.

How someone looks/acts

Conjunction

Conjunction ("the way")

Examples (such as)
I have many hobbies, like reading books
Job/function
I work as an English teacher
You can use your phone as a means of communication.
Verbs: look, taste, smell, sound, feel
These sweets taste like strawberries.
