What is film?

Ask students to type in what they know. Discuss some answers that were given. 

What is your favorite movie, and why?

Why do people watch films?

-  Think about this question individually. What is your opinion?

- With your neighbour, compare and contrast their ideas and opinions.

- Come up with a shared thought and share it on the next slide.

Why do people watch films?

Randomly show some answers and ask for clarification if necessary. 

Film genres

Ask students which genres they know. 

Tell them to watch the video and decide which genre the previously shown clip is.

Assignment

1) Pick your favorite genre

2) Find 3 pictures that represent it.

Your pictures should reflect the key characteristics of your chosen genre.

Explain that they're doing this to decide on a genre for their final assignment.

- Think of the key elements of a story and try to incorporate this.

-  Use tools like PowerPoint or Canva to create the slideshow.

- Upload your final motion picture on TikTok (or any other platform) and add the link on the following slide. 

Explain the assignment and the rubric on the next slide. Also show them slides 26 - 29 in case they struggle starting up or are early finishers.
