Present perfect

1 Als iets in het verleden gebeurd is begonnen en nog niet voorbij is. Vaak staat er for, since, yet, never, ever, etc.

She has lived in Doorwerth for three years.

I have not been to South Korea yet.

Present perfect

2 Als het resultaat van iets uit het verleden nog steeds merkbaar of zichtbaar is:

He has broken his leg.

They have painted the house.

3. Als iets in het verleden is gebeurd, maar het exacte moment is niet bekend of niet belangrijk:

Have you seen the documentary?

John hasn't spoken to his mother about skipping school.

Past Simple

Als in een zin verwijzing naar het verleden staat (denk aan yesterday, last year, two weeks ago, in 1969), dan kun je in het Engels niet de present perfect gebruiken. Je moet dan de past simple gebruiken.

Als je in het Engels 'een paar', 'een beetje' of 'wat' wilt zeggen, gebruik je some of any.

Some gebruik je bij bevestigende zinnen.

Any gebruik je bij ontkennende zinnen en in bepaalde vraagzinnen:

Possessive pronouns

Wanneer je wilt aangeven van wie iets is, gebruik je possessive pronouns (=bezittelijke voornaamwoorden).

That book is mine and that one is hers.

1 Gebruik als iets een tijdje aan de gang was in het verleden:

Most of the kids were playing.

My sisters weren't laughing at you.

Denk aan spelling!

ww eindigt op -e: To lose -> losing / To leave -> leaving

ww eindigt op een medeklinker: To run -> running / to sit -> sitting

ww eindigt op -ie: To die -> dying / to lie - > lying
