Foreshadowing

Hints the writer gives about what comes later in the story

Often they're not very obvious until the thing they were hinting at already happened

The most important parts of the story, the ones where something really important happens. If that moment had been different, the whole story would have gone in a different direction. 

Climax of a story

A point in the story, usually near the end, when everthing comes together for the big finale. It's the moment in the story where the most happens

Themes

The theme is the central idea in a literary work. The theme is usually an idea about life or about people. You extract the themes from the characters, action, and setting that make up the story. To Identify it you must look for consistent ideas or imagery that recurs.  You should examine the behaviour of the main characters and see what lesson they have learned throughout the story. Look for elements that are emphasized in the story

Irony

verbal irony

• when someone says something totally different from what they mean

situational irony

• when a the result of a situation is totally different from what you expect it to be.

dramatic irony

• audience knows something important that the character doesn't know
• makes you scream 'don't go in there!' at a horror movie
