2Tvwo §6.6 Mixed exercises

§6.6 Mixed exercises
This § gives you good material to practice all you learned in Ch 6 once more.
However, the final 2 exercises, that are 43 and 44, are pretty tough.
                                                                     So you have a choice:
+  the Challenge path: just do §6.6 completely.
+ the Standard path:
          Do:    -  §6.6 excluding 43 and 44,
                     -  p.229 E7 and E8

Slide 1 - Tekstslide

INTRODUCTION
To help you a bit on your way,
let's go through some of the exercises together!

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Drawing or sketching is something ...
+   that everybody can do
+  helps you making your homework
+ read in the next slide how to do this!

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Task 1 is about exercise 38:
  • Write down '38' in the margin of your Notebook.
  •  Make a sketch in your Notebook, to work out the longest paper chain.
  • So draw a right-angled triangle, including all the given measurements.

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

Solution 1:

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

Task 2 is about 39:
Save some space for the Calculation of 38 (!)
Write '39' in the margin.
Make a sketch to work out the length of the straw.
Include all you know.
Make sure you can apply Pythagoras in it!

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Task 3 is about 40:

Save some space for the Calculation of 39.
Write down '40' in the margin.
Sketch the route of the stunt rider: only a Right-angled triangle!

Solution 3:

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

Preparing 41 together.
This text of this exercise consists of only 4 lines and is about a pyramid.
Pretty abstract, isn't it?!  We will make it more concrete!
In a few steps we will:
                   +  calculate
                   + sketch and then again:
+ calculate what is needed, to find : THE HEIGHT of the PYRAMID !

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

What could be a good first step?

Slide 13 - Woordweb

Answer previous question:
STEP 1:
Calculate the length of the slanted edges:
1m = 100 cm.
100 - 4 x 10 = 100 - 40 = 60
60 : 4 = 15 cm

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

A helpfull sketch:
Because the book
does not give it, I present you
with a sketch in 3D.
Watch the capital letters  and the lengths!

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

Slide 16 - Tekstslide

Task 4, about 41 again:
Sketch the triangle in which you can calculate
the HEIGHT of the Pyramid.
For this we will go back to the previous slide!

Slide 19 - Tekstslide

What is the next logical step?

Slide 20 - Woordweb

Solution previous question:
Calculate the length of BV,
in base ABCD, with
the theorem of Pythagoras.
See next slide!

Next this sketch is needed:

Slide 23 - Tekstslide

Finally...
Calculate the height VT !

Homework time!
To refresh your memory, here comes the very first slide again!
