BLOCKERS

Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Blockers are psychological barriers that stop you from working - thoughts and feelings which stop us from doing what we know we should be doing. We need to break down our blockers to help us get better motivated.

'Bypassing our Conscience'
Most people feel guilty when they're not working, so sometimes we rethink the situation until we feel better about it.....
- My friend hasn't done it either so I'm fine
- My teacher didn't give me full instructions so I can't do it
- I rushed it last time and I was fine so I'll just do that again
- I really love this TV show and I missed it last week....
- Other colleges don't do this essay so I won't bother

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

Creating an Opportunity
We often have things that distract us. Some students work with others and tell themselves this is beneficial. Usually it's just a distraction opportunity and a chat.
What about other distractions? TV, phone, laptop?

Slide 5 - Tekstslide
