WHO	Verwijzingen naar mensen. Direct na een voorzetsel gebruik je WHOM.
WHICH	Verwijzingen naar dieren en dingen.
THAT	Mag in plaats van who of which als er GEEN komma in de zin staat. Staat er wel een komma, dan kan je geen that gebruiken.
GEEN	- Een ander woord is het onderwerp van de bijzin. - De bijzin is nodig, omdat anders de rest van de zin onduidelijk wordt of van betekenis verandert (geen komma).
WHOSE	Geeft aan van wie iets is, of waar iets bij hoort. Verwijzingen bij mensen, dieren en dingen.
Examples	The boy whose parents live in another country. That's the woman who/that helped me with the groceries. I like the song which/that is on the radio right now. This is the cat I got for my birthday. The woman to whom I am talking is my sister.

The possessive

Je gebruikt de possessive om bezit aan te geven of om aan te geven dat iets bij iets anders hoort.

Dit kan met:

The possessive

's is used for:

- Bij personen en dieren

- Enkelvoud : The dog's tail is beautiful

- Meervoudsvormen die niet eindigen op -s : The people's wishes.

- Eigennamen, ook als die op -s eindigen : Nick's mother - Tess's cars

- Bij winkels en plekken waar je vaker komt : The baker's  

   Bing often goes to Eli's

The possessive

' is used for: 

- Bij personen en dieren

- Meervoudsvormen die wel eindigen op -s : Your parents' opinion

Soms kun je bij 's of ' het zelfstandig naamwoord dat erachter komt weglaten, om herhaling te voorkomen.

This is my dad's car -> This car is my dad's (car).

The possessive

of is used for:

- Bij dingen : Put your bike at the back of the house.

- Bij geografische locaties : The capital of Germany is Berlin.

   The corner of the street.
