– fadir – father – …….. In Middle English there used to be an ‘d’ where a sound like a ‘d’ was heard, but in Early Modern English the ‘d’ has been replaced by ‘th’.
- heuenes – heauen …….. In Middle English some verbs would end with the letter combination ‘es’, which seems to derive from Germanic. In Early Modern English, however, the ending was changed to ‘en’.
- hallowed – Hallowed - …….. In Early Modern English a word like ‘hallowed’ used to be written with a small letter. In Late Modern English all words that could be referred to the Lord and his doings would begin with capital letters.
- nama – name …….. In Old English English there used to be an ‘a’ at the end, but the final ‘a’ has been lost and replaced with an ‘e’.
- kyndoom – kingdom - …….. In Middle English an ‘y’ used to be written for a vowel that sounded like an ‘i’, but it has been replaced by an ‘i’.
- wille – will …….. In Middle English there used to be an ‘e’ at the end of certain nouns, but the final ‘e’ has been lost in Early Modern English.
