In today's session we will cover:
- skin types and how to recognise them.
- The functions of the skin.
- The labelling of the skin and it's structures.

Will feel smooth to the touch

How do you recognise dry skin?

Feels rough to touch
Sometimes peeling
Will absorb products quickly

How can you recognise oily skin?

Can leave oily residue when you touch it
Prone to breakouts
Will have open pores
Too much sebum produced in skin

Can be prone to breakouts in areas
Often has oily t-zone
May require treatment in specific areas

Sensation - The nerve endings in our body allow us to feel sensations such as: Pain, Heat, touch, cold and pressure.
Heat regulation - How our body controls it's temperature. Think about goose bumps, shivering and sweat.
Absorption - Our skin can absorb some creams and also UV rays.
Protection - Skin can protect our organs, it can protect us from UV rays and protects us from bacteria with it's waterproof layer.
Excretion - Some waste products are excreted from the body through the skin sweating.
Secretion - Sebum is the naturally produced oil that the skin secretes.
