Je gebruikt have to als iets verplicht is of iemand anders vindt dat het moet.

• I must visit grandma, I haven't seen her in ages!
• Children under sixteen have to go to school.

Als je to have to in ontkennende zinnen gebruikt, dan verandert de betekenis van moeten in niet hoeven.
